Aotearoa : the New Zealand story, Gavin Bishop
I thought this book was really intersting. It starts with how the maori moved to Aotearoa and the different sorts of boats they used. then it gos on to how New Zealand is really the land of birds because there are only two native species of mammals the bat and the seal. Next it tells you how they named all the mountains, rivers, harbours and lakes. It then tells you how the native tribes fought among each other over land. It next informs you about the first peaple to come and try and map New Zealand it also tells you about other vistiors such as whalers, traders and missionaries. This book tells you about the treaty of waitangi and other famous events like how the maori helped the british in world war one and two. this book daosn’t just only tell you things that happend in the past it also informs you about modern heros like Richie McCaw, Lorde and Valerie Adams. I really love this book because it tells you about the present and past of New Zealand.
