Top 10 Children’s DVDs October 2015

My Little Pony has been the most popular Children’s DVD for the last six months! Number two favourite, Shaun the sheep has been involved in a great art trail in London and Bristol called Shaun in the City.  Different artists painted up Shauns that were stationed all over the cities.  There was even a Sherlock Shaun! Happy Birthday Harold!

Many decades ago an Author wrote a book that has become a much loved classic, and this year his book turns 60 years old! That’s old enough to be your grandparent.

Harold and the Purple Crayon is a picture book about a small boy who goes on an evening adventure, drawing everything he needs with a purple crayon as he goes. Many people were inspired by this simple story, and it quickly become a much loved book found in many homes and libraries across the world.

Get to know Harold; grab a copy from your local library and have a read.

Top 10 Children’s DVDs for September

Just in time to finish up the school holidays!

The favourites are holding strong in the latest top ten.  Paddington just scrapes in.

If you enjoyed the Paddington movie take a look at the books we have by the original author Michael Bond.  A brand new piece of work from the venerable 88 year old author, Love from Paddington has just arrived in the library and is being prepared for borrowing!  The book is filled with letters of Paddington’s impressions of London life.   The Peruvian bear is a bit of a mascot for Paddington railway station in London, U.K.  Last year celebrity painted versions of the famous statue were dotted all around London fro the Paddington Bear trail. Take a look at these designs and see if they inspire you to create your own!
