When William Shakespeare was 18 he got married! In the eyes of the law Shakespeare was still a minor at 18, so he had to get permission from his dad to get married to Anne Hathaway. She was older than him at age 26.
Shakespeare and his wife Anne had three children: first Susanna, then two years later Anne gave birth to twins in 1585, called Judith and Hamnet. Both Susanna and Judith grew up and married, but Hamnet died aged only 11 years old.
Unfortunately there are no direct descendants of Shakespeare living today as none of his grandchildren produced any heirs.
