Johnsonville’s Sink or Swim Holiday Programme

Much fun was had last April 12 at Johnsonville when we had the Sink or Swim  Holiday Programme. Since it is also the 100th year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, we had  lined up some activities to remember it by. There were about 62 people who turned up for the event. We had somebody from the Keith Spry pool who came over to share some helpful swimming safety tips.  The children would have to guess what items would sink or float in the bucket of water that she had brought with her. Then we discussed some facts about the Titanic including its size of about 22 school buses! After that we are off to our fun activities.

  • Spot the difference between two very big pictures of the Titanic
  • Underwater search and find puzzle
  •  Mind the Iceberg game where you have to fill out the empty squares without hitting the icebergs
  • Save the people game where you have to get on a small cardboard boat and try to get as many cardboard rolls with your stick and place them onboard your boat.
  • Origami paper boats

Then we ended it with having your photo taken as a female passenger, the captain or peeking through a porthole.
