Johnsonville Holiday Activity

The library stepped back in time during the October school holiday activity.

The children enjoyed playing some games from the past; such as the orange game, old fashioned hopscotch and peg in the bottle.  We even made our own butter and recited the chants that kids used to do in the olden days.

We looked at pictures of old objects and tried to work out what they might be in the modern world.  An old computer is certainly different to what we have now.

To finish off our fun filled hour we had a photo booth that kids could get dressed up and have an old fashioned non smiling photo.

    Hi Debbie,
    Sounds like a great program.
How did the photo booth work and how did you
obtain props for the photo sessions?
    Thanks Mary

    Hi Mary
We just set up a very simple backdrop of old fashioned wallpaper complete with old photos, arranged a small table with flowers and had the children sit on a chair. The pictures in the frames were created using a picture of an old frame enlarged, pasted onto card and cut out. We attached two rulers and the children held it up themselves. The clothes and props were loaned by staff and friends.
