Libraries are no longer just places to get books. We have a large collection of non-book items from music equipment, to power meters and C02 meters, to tablets and memory bags.
Once upon a time, most houses had a dedicated home electronic device that could play CDs through a home stereo set up or a television. However, the advent of music streaming services has replaced a majority of these physical devices and cars no longer come with CD players. While we still have a diverse collection of physical media, we realise that some of our patrons no longer have a way to appreciate our extensive music and audiobook collections, so we are excited to launch a new collection of portable CD players!
These lendable CD players enable you to listen to our music collection and enjoy audiobook stories with your whānau!
Each CD player kit consists of:
- 1 x CD player [Bluetooth compatibility/built-in stereo speakers]
- 1 x Panasonic headphones
- 1 x JBL portable Bluetooth speaker
- 2 x connector/charging cables
- CD player FAQ sheet
How does it work?
- You may borrow one CD Player Kit at a time for 3 weeks
- CD Player Kits can be reserved
- CD Player Kits can not be renewed
- The CD Player Kit borrower is responsible for checking out and returning the entire kit and is fully responsible for its return, as well as any replacement costs for damaged / lost items or a whole set.
How much does it cost?
- CD Player Kits are free to borrow.
- $160 charge for a lost kit.
Where can I find them?
CD Player Kits are held in 5 branch libraries:
- Te Awe (CBD Brandon Street)
- Te Awa-a-Taia (Kilbirnie)
- Te Māhanga (Karori)
- Waitohi (Johnsonville)
- Ngā Puna Waiora (Newtown)
The kits can be borrowed from and returned to a different library and can be reserved or moved to another library for pick-up.
Terms and Conditions to borrow this equipment are in place to ensure the safe use of the equipment and its timely return.
