Joining
Anyone may use library items within the library but you need to join to take things home.
Who can join?
Wellington City Council ratepayers and residents have free membership, as the libraries are funded from Wellington City Rates. We offer free membership to children, young adults, adults, talking book service borrowers and housebound borrowers. Tenths Trust members, and students at Wellington educational institutions are also eligible for free membership.
We also offer an Annual Subscription Option and Out of Towner Membership which enable non-residents to use all the services provided by Wellington City Libraries.
You can join our libraries online! Click here for a temporary card number and more details.
We have information in several different languages, including Maori, on joining the library.
