The 'Select' collection is designed to make it easier to borrow heavily used and reserved items within our audiovisual collection at Central Library. The titles in this collection have a reduced loan period of 3 days, meaning you can access the most popular CDs and DVDs faster for the same price and find them on the shelf more often. Items in this collection also cannot be reserved - so are more immediately available. Look for the logo on the right Back- A boxed DVD set is defined as more than 300 viewing minutes. This change takes effect following Wellington City Council's approval of its Long Term Council Community Plan. Back
- Bestsellers concession cards cost $25.00 and entitle you to six Bestsellers issues (i.e. one free). Back
Is there a limit on how many items I can borrow?
No. There is no limit to the number of items you can take out, but if someone wishes to borrow all items on the subject, we may ask you, in fairness to other library users, to limit your selection.
Interlibrary Return Fees
An interlibrary return fee of $1 per item applies when a library item is returned to a library it wasn't issued from: as an example, books borrowed from Miramar Library are returned at Central Library. Returning items to the library you borrowed them from means they are back on the shelves sooner, for others to borrow. It means we can provide a more efficient service so that you get the most out of our libraries.
Extended loans
Your loan(s) can be extended by 1 week from the due date unless it has been reserved by another customer, and unless it is already overdue. Only 1 loan extension per item is possible. A charge of $1 will apply for each extension, and this will be in addition to any applicable borrowing fee for the item(s). Currently loans can only be extended online, or within the library, although we are working on a telephone option also. (Login to choose your loans to extend)

Also note:
The Passport to Leisure scheme is no longer available, however Leisure Card and Community Service Card holders are eligible for discounted services. More information on this change is available on the Wellington City Council website.
