Overdue policy
Overdue fees are charged from the day after the item was due, therefore items must be returned during opening hours on the due date to avoid incurring an overdue charge. This is in line with the Wellington City Libraries' Customer Charter. Notices are sent out after the item has been overdue for five days. Replacement costs are charged for lost or damaged items.
Interlibrary returns
An additional interlibrary return fee of $1 per item applies when a library item is returned to a library it wasn't issued from: as an example, books borrowed from Miramar Library are returned at Central Library. Returning items to the library you borrowed them from means they are back on the shelves sooner, for others to borrow. It means we can provide a more efficient service so that you get the most out of our libraries.
Payment options
Payments can be made in person at any Wellington City Library or by cheque made out to Wellington City Council. Credit card payments are also accepted by telephone, Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 5pm, by calling the 801 4058 or 801 4055.
