The Eighth Note: KRASH

The Eighth Note is 8 quick Questions with Wellington Musicians. A chance for us to catch up with people & see what they’re up to, or introduce you to a new musician/band and their music. Up next is Krash Jackson (Mavericks NZ, Krash The World), who records solo as KRASH.

Who are you? Tell us a bit about your music:
I’m KRASH, a Wellington-based artist. I make music that works as a mood-altering drug for me, with the intention of connecting to and uniting others through my songs. My reflective and honest tunes find their sonic roots somewhere in the depths between Nirvana and Lil Peep. I enjoy blending rock guitar and vocals with modern emo-rap/trap sounds to create my own style of music.

What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or albums on the way?
I’m currently finishing up my first album ‘HENDRIX’ for release. There’s another single on the way before then too, ‘Spotlight’ with Guans.

Where is the best place people can follow you & find your music?
Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook. Find links to my music through Instagram/Facebook or under KRASH on Spotify & all major platforms.

What were the 3 most influential albums to you growing up?
Greatest Hits (The Offspring)
Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (Arctic Monkeys)
Nevermind (Nirvana)

Which other Wellington musician(s) would you most like to work with?
Delirium, Waguan & Casual Healing!

What’s your favourite Wellington venue to play in?
Valhalla or Moon.

In your songwriting or composing (or the band’s songwriting) how do the compositions and songs take shape?
Generally I write and record quite quickly – I’ll start with a beat and listen out for what the music is calling for. Then between my guitar and voice I’ll flow over the song in a way that captures the mood/idea I have in mind, sonically & lyrically. Other times I write with acoustic guitar, or compose lyrics on their own & add them to a suitable piece of music later. I don’t like to spend too long making creative decisions so I go with what feels right and have faith in my ability to continually grow & improve artistically from song to song.

Where/when is your next gig?
Nothing at the moment, but keep an eye on my Socials!
