New Single: Greta O’Leary

‘New Single’ is where a band or artist answers a couple of quick questions about their latest Single release. Up next is Greta O’Leary, who has just released a new single Body, Now, following on from her debut single Outnumbered which was released in February.

What the song is about lyrically?
‘Body, Now’ is the story of grief and heartache, and gently finding the road back to oneself. I wrote ‘Body, Now’ when I was journeying through the Southern mountain passes and finding my way to healing, and its become a meditation to self. It has a hypnosis to it which I love and strong poetry that carries it.

Who produced/recorded it? Did the track come together in the studio, or at home?
I recorded the guitar and vocals with Andrew Downes [Home Run] and then took a while to figure out where I wanted to send it next. I even sent it to Australia and back before I brought it to Toby Lloyd of Tiny Triumph Recordings. We re-imagined the sonics and brought in the other instrumentation, so he produced it and recorded the other instruments. The song form and lyrics have been set since that jaunt down south.

Were there any gear or effects that you used in the mix to get the sound you were after?
Intimate vocals are pretty integral to my sound. Toby is great at helping me hear exactly what I am wanting to in the mix and placing the voice in the heart of it all.

Is this a stand-alone track or part of an upcoming album or EP?
This is only the beginning! My debut EP is coming soon, so keep an eye out for the next song and updates are on their way.
