Critics on Wellington Music: Nick Bollinger

We’ve been checking in with some local critics to get their thoughts on what makes the Wellington Music scene unique, and to get their take on some of their favourite Wellington sounds…

Noted critic, writer, broadcaster & producer Nick Bollinger was kind enough to share his thoughts on Wellington Music with us, as well as some of his favourite albums…

‘Wellington is big enough to have a lot of good musicians, and small enough for most of them to know each other. For as long as I can remember, great music has been growing from that sense of community.

In four decades of listening to Wellington music, a few of my all-time favourites have been:
Mammal and Sam Hunt – Beware The Man (1972)
The HulamenBeer and Skittles (1982)
Cassette – Emo (EP, 2001)
The Phoenix Foundation – Buffalo (2010)
The Yoots – Sing Along With… (2011)’
