Welcome to our new website!

Our new website is here, aiming to better showcase our library services and resources in a modern way. While the main website looks different, many of your favourite features have remained the same. The online catalogue, eLibrary resources, and your access to your library card haven't been affected by this change.

Here are some of the new features you'll notice:

  • The navigation has been reimagined by user experience experts, based on interviews and testing with customers and staff. This has meant that the Collections, Māori, Services and Visit areas of the website are more prominent.
  • Services that are popular are more easily located, with opening hours, eLibrary and other well-used library services linked through from the home page.
  • We've put content together so that it is more findable, for example grouping some of our non-book items such as power meters, Te Reo Kete, and other resources into Special Collections. We've also pulled all the stories from our separate blogs into a new News page - but you can also view them by topic as well.
  • We’ve increased te reo Māori content, with more being added as it’s provided by local translators.
  • The look and feel is more clean and modern, based on the latest Libraries branding, with more white space to showcase content. The new design is also more responsive to device size and age.
  • Content is being migrated across in phases, based on current usage. This has ensured that we have tackled areas in priority order, with key areas being available from Tuesday 9 July. In the next 3 months, we will migrate more content in Phase 2.
  • The website search can easily help you to find the page you need.

We hope you like the new website! Let us know what you think, by filling out the feedback form, or email us at enquiries@wcl.govt.nz.
