About the Website, our Virtual Branch

This Website is the Virtual Branch of Wellington City Libraries and has been designed and created by Wellington City Librarians, Katipo Communications, Putahi Associates and Base Two. Some book, CD and DVD cover art on this site is provided in association with Amazon, Syndetics, and other sites which have given express permission. Our survey software tool Partner is SurveyGizmo.

The purpose of Wellington City Libraries Website is to provide Wellingtonians with a virtual place to access their first choice in fact and fiction. The website is a vital part of the library's role in connecting with communities to spark imagination and discovery by impressing customers with entertaining and informative library experiences.

The Website as it exists today is unique. It is designed to be constantly growing and to be constantly evolving. Our goal is to move towards providing access to all our services through our Virtual Branch, in addition to our physical locations, to provide Wellingtonians with a window of access to information available both locally and globally, and to provide the world with a window in to Wellington City Libraries.

The provision of the site is consistent with and reflective of the Wellington City Council vision outlined in "Connecting our Communities 2014–2017".The site has grown from the dynamic environment of creativity and innovation that is Wellington City.It incorporates Wellington's goals of providing all people with equitable access to community and public resources, facilitating access to the City's information resources, and provision of an abundant and diverse range of affordable, quality recreation and leisure activities and opportunities.

The site is funded as part of Wellington City Council via the Long Term Council Community Plan.

We welcome feedback about the Website and encourage you to visit frequently so you can observe its evolution.
