Kids’ Club Review by Siddhi: Ruby riddle

Ruby riddleRuby riddle, by Rosie Banks

Ruby Riddle. written and illustrated By Rosie Banks. (This book is a chapter book)

In this book Summer, Ellie and Jasmine have a terrific adventure because Queen Malice (King Merry’s evil sister) takes over the kingdom and destroy the beautiful, lovely kingdom and puts King Merry in a dungeon OH NO! I felt bad at that moment until the happy moment\part Then… they have to read a riddle in the magic spell book and the riddle says “something’s lost that must be found, search through sea, air and ground… to find the red jewel you must start by looking in the kingdom’s heart”. Straight after they read the riddle Summer paused for a few seconds and said said “the red jewel must be the ruby”

A few hours later they had rescued their best friend Trixi. Straight away then they saw a dark – grey cloud floating to the distant tower. OH NO! It was Queen Malice on her cloud! That made me shiver. Then Trixi gently touched her ring and said “pixie magic use your power and fly to the distant tower”. Then whoosh off they went. Yay I was happy then that happened at least that was good but not every thing else. But I thought that queen Malice would take the ruby first but…Then the girls and Trixi and Queen Malice grabbed the ruby and pulled, but it was stuck! Then they looked into the magic spell book and read the other riddle and that one said “think of something very dear, caring, kindness and some fun.” Then Queen Malice came whooshing off to the girls and snatched the old spell book and read it and said…” something dear? Caring? Sharing?” in a suspicions voice “storm sprites what do these words mean?” “I don’t know your royal highness” they said. This was the funny part!

Then finally the girls said altogether said “FRIENDSHIP!” Since they got it right they had a lovely surprise and it was…a beautiful scent of smell! It smelt like freshly mowed grass and ripe strawberry scent! Also there was a bright bright light than ever seen! When all that was happing Trixi caught the ruby and the girls got the other gems out of each of their pockets and put them all touching in the middle and then there was a crown for King Merry to rule again! Then right behind them they heard a huge yawn they looked behind their self

Oh Wow! It was king merry he was set free with the power of his new crown! Finally the new crown slowly settled on his head! On that same day they all had a huge party but how did the whole secret kingdom know about there was a huge party? Well Trixi spelt out in the sky with fireworks “PARTY” and after 5-10 minutes the fireworks word “PARTY” was not gone it was still clear and neat! Then King Merry said to Queen Malice “ I am going to take all of your magic you evil mean Queen and make you tidy up the whole mess you made in the kingdom”. Then appeared a mini broom and dustpan! “NO YOU WONT MEANIE” she replied. Yay this was my favourite part and the happily ever after ending but you should be patient there are more Secret Kingdom books. Look out
