New fiction in the library this month

book coverWe’ve got heaps of cool new chapter books for you to check out this month. The fourth book in the Land of Elyon series by Patrick Carman, called Stargazer, is here, so if you’ve read the other ones make sure you get this one out.

We liked The Lampo Circus and The Shadow Thief (The Lampo Circus was one of the kids’ choice selections last year) by Alexandra Adornetto, and now there’s Von Gobstopper’s Arcade, the third in her series called The Strangest Adventures.

Other cool books: Kenny and the Dragon by Tony DiTerlizzi (he wrote the Spiderwick Chronicles); Just Henry by Michelle Magorian (this book has won a major award in the UK), about Henry, who lives at the time of World War II and loves movies; The Ice-Cream Man by Jenny Mounfield – playing a prank on the ice-cream man might not be such a good idea!

New CDs and DVDs for February

DVD CoverWe’re getting a lot of retro DVDs lately, from the Pink Panther (this collection comes with a lovely pink and orange clashing cover), through The Smurfs (the smurfs are awesome – you should get this out now!) to Sesame Street episodes going all the way back to 1969. 1969! Imagine!

CD CoverIn addition to these, we’ve got lots of popular books on CD – Airman by Eoin Colfer (who wrote the Artemis Fowl books – Airman is great for older kids), The Water Horse by Dick King-Smith (the book the movie was based on) and Cliffhanger by Jacqueline Wilson.

For info on more CDs and DVDs check out the My Library Children’s Sound and Vision page; for other new things check out the My Library Index.

Jane Blonde fans will be excited to hear that Spy in the Sky is also available: what will the sensational spylet be up to next?
