Kids’ Club Review by Harshit Kumar: The wide window

The wide window / Snicket, Lemony

I rated this book 5 stars because it tells that the three Baudelaires are going to live with Aunt Josephine. She lives in a house on a hill. She had a daughter who drowned in a lake. She is afraid of hurricane. She is a nice woman who takes care of them but when she meets a man called Captain Sham. She thought that he is a nice person but the orphans try to prove that he is Count Olaf but she ignores the orphans. One day she went somewhere and she leaves a note saying that Captain Sham will be taking care of the orphans. At lunch time, Mr. Poe, Captain Sham and the orphans go to a restaurant. Violet remembers that Mr. Poe gave a bag of peppermints so violet decides to take three out and she gives one to each of them and they get hives and a swollen tongue and when they get home, it is the perfect chance for them to find the place where Aunt Josephine is hidden. The place was Curdled cave. Then they set off to find her, they arrive to Captain Sham’s dock and steal one of his boats and then set off on to find Curdled Cave in a hurricane that is dangerous. At night, they reach their location and went inside to find her and they did. When they find her, she is delighted to see them again. Then they set off on the boat to get back home but a swarm of leeches attacked the boat and Captain Sham rescued them. Captain Sham also threw Aunt Josephine into the lake but at the shore was Mr. Poe with another man. To prove that Captain Sham is count Olaf, in secret Sunny crawled to Captain Sham’s left leg and bit the peg leg with her teeth so hard that the peg snapped in half and they all saw his tattoo on the left ankle. Mr. Poe again decided to call the police to arrest him but he managed to escape again. Now they were going to be sent to another guardian.
