Special Summer Reading Challenge Competition! Win some books!

Hope you have all been enjoying some of the wonderful sunny summer days and better still reading some of the fabulous books on our Summer Reading Challenge book list! Judging by the fantastic reviews that I have been reading, I know many of you have been wildly reading over the school holidays which makes me very happy! Now I know we all have a favourite books to read but I would really like to see some of the books being reviewed from the list that no one has reviewed yet soooo…. I’m going make a bit of an incentive for you. I have 5 books to give away for the first reviews I receive in on the following books, but you must have at least 3 sentences about the book in the review. They are all great reads and if you are a Harry Potter or a Northern Light fan you’ll especially enjoy these!

The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman. This is one of my personal all time favourite books I’ve ever read and tells the story of an orphan boy who is brought up in a graveyard by a group of ghosts. The boy is named Nobody Owens and he has many different adventures all the while having to evade evil creatures who are after him.

The Doomspell Trilogy, by Cliff McNish is a rollercoaster of a ride through 3 books. Sister and brother Rachel and Eric are sucked into an alternate universe run by an evil witch called Dragwena. In order to escape and get back to earth the children too must learn magic but it can be a dangerous game to play. The magical adventures of Rachel and Eric carry through all 3 books and reach an exciting climax. A must read!

Ice Sea Pirates by Frida Nilsson. This book only came out at the end of last year and I really want to see some reviews of it as I love it! ” A classic children’s adventure of icy seas and cold-blooded pirates, wolves, mermaids and the bravery of one girl determined to save her sister” – Publisher

The Weirdstone of Brisingarmen, by Alan Garner. This classic is a must read for anyone who like magic, wizards, dwarves and full on fantasy adventure! “The Weirdstone of Brisingamen is one of the greatest fantasy novels of all time. When Colin and Susan are pursued by eerie creatures across Alderley Edge, they are saved by the Wizard. He takes them into the caves of Fundindelve, where he watches over the enchanted sleep of one hundred and forty knights. But the heart of the magic that binds them – Firefrost, also known as the Weirdstone of Brisingamen – has been lost. The Wizard has been searching for the stone for more than 100 years, but the forces of evil are closing in, determined to possess and destroy its special power. Colin and Susan realise at last that they are the key to the Weirdstone’s return. But how can two children defeat the Morrigan and her deadly brood?” There are another 2 books in the series after this!

The Children of Green Knowe (series), by Lucy M. Boston.”Tolly’s great-grandmother wasn’t a witch, but both she and her old house Green Knowe were full of a very special kind of magic. And Green Knowe turned out not to be the lonely place Tolly had imagined. There were other children living in the house – children who had been happy there centuries before. These enchanting, haunting stories from Carnegie-winner Lucy M. Boston are true modern classics.” –Back cover.

So head down to the library and pick up a copy of one of the above books to win a book prize! Here’s a wee hint some of them are downloadable books and some of them are also audio books! Happy reading and keep writing those fab reviews.
