Enjoy eBooks & more with the new OverDrive Media Console v3.0

OMCv3graphicReading eBooks from our downloadable library will be easier than ever from Tuesday 20 August. The OverDrive Media Console mobile app for both eBooks and eAudiobooks has been redesigned to improve ease of use and to introduce some new features.

You can check out a preview of the new app here on YouTube. Highlighted features include:

  • A redesigned user interface with an all-new look, streamlined navigation, and a one-stop reorganized menu.
  • You can sync bookmarks & reading progress across multiple devices using a free, opt-in registration service called OverDrive One.
  • New variable speed playback for iOS (Apple) devices means you can listen to audiobooks quicker (or slower) without changes to sound quality.

System Requirements for the new version: OMC v3.0 for Android users requires Android OS v4.0 (or newer). The older version of OMC for Android v2.6.5 will remain available for download. OMC for iOS requires iOS 6 (or newer).

If you already have OverDrive Media Console installed on your device, you will be prompted to update, or it will happen automatically depending on your device settings. Alternatively for first time app users, OverDrive Media Console will be available for download via the  OverDrive website along with more information.

If you have questions or feedback regarding this change, we’d love to hear them – please let us know by emailing enquiries@wcl.govt.nz.
