Nobel Prize winning author Gunter Grass has died aged 87. A controversial writer, playwright and poet, he was also an accomplished sculptor and artist. His best known novel was his first published in 1962 titled The Tin Drum related the history of Germany during the first part of the 20th century, through the life of boy who refuses to grow up. This novel was adapted into an award winning film in 1979. Crabwalk, published in 2002 was his last novel.
