Art Craft Action

During December visitors to Kilbirnie and Miramar libraries may have been surprised to see people spinning wool, arranging flowers, sculpting clay, crocheting, sewing on their machines, making beautiful books and stringing together beads.  This was all part of a plan to bring our local crafters out of their workrooms, into our libraries, and to inspire our customers to get crafty. We know that books can be sometimes be a bit daunting for a beginner crafter and there is nothing like an actual person to set you on the right track.  A big thank you to  Kylie Sutcliffe (book binding), Marg Elliot (beading), Annie Curran (Hardanger), Lyndy Young from Stitchbird Fabrics,  Nicola Dench from the Clay Penguin, Elizabeth McMillan from the Ikebana society, and the Miramar Spinners and Weavers.

In March we are looking forward to hosting the Wellington Embroidery Guild and further ahead in May/June I would like to organise a knit in at Kilbirnie library and I’m looking for some keen knitters to help me with this.  If you’re interested in helping, please email me with your details.
