The Eighth Note: Jason Nolan

‘The Eighth Note’ is 8 quick Questions with Wellington Musicians.

A chance for us to catch up with people & see what they’re up to, or introduce you to a new musician/band and their music.

Today’s guest is Jason Nolan, a UK musician new to Wellignton.

Who are you? Tell us a bit about your music:
I’m Jason Nolan, originally from London, now based in Wellington.

What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or albums on the way?
I have been working on a handful of ideas which I want to turn into an EP which will be about leaving London again, also have a live session which should be out in the next couple weeks.

Where is the best place people can follow you & find your music?
Anywhere really: Spotify, Soundcloud, Youtube – there are some old demos out there in the dark corners of the web too! I’ve recently started using Instagram a bit more too as I have a functioning camera phone so go there to see my movements.

What were the 3 most influential albums to you growing up?
That is a really tough one……
For now i ll go with Remain In Light – Talking Heads, Walkmen – Bows + Arrows, and Gold Panda – Lucky Shiner. But it could be any of about 20 on another day.

Which other Wellington musician (s) would you most like to work with?
I’ve only been here for a minute and have already seen some amazing music so really looking forward to playing with some musicians over here.

What’s your favourite Wellington venue to play in?
None yet!

In your songwriting or composing (or the band’s songwriting) how do the compositions and songs take shape?
Pretty much just starts from an idea in my head or something that pops up out of messing around with some samples I would have made.

Where/when is your next gig?
In wellington and sooner than later!
