The Eighth Note: Pale Lady

‘The Eighth Note’ is 8 quick Questions with Wellington Musicians.

A chance for us to catch up with people & see what they’re up to, or introduce you to a new musician/band and their music.

Today’s guests are Pale Lady, who have just released their debut single.

Who are you? Tell us a bit about your music:
We are all studying music at Massey University and were drawn together by chance through our love of rock music. We mix classic and modern rock sounds, to ensure we soar.

What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or albums on the way?
We have just released our first single ‘Empty Space (Where Were They?!)’ which we are really stoked about. There will be more singles coming and an EP later in the year. We’d like to have it out before we go to Europe in August.

Where is the best place people can follow you & find your music?
Our single is on Spotify at the moment and also iTunes, but we post all of our updates on Facebook including new content.

What were the 3 most influential albums to you growing up?
Origin Of Symmetry by Muse, Black Album by Metallica and Songs About Jane by Maroon 5.

Which other Wellington musician (s) would you most like to work with?
It would be awesome to play with The Nudge, they have some mean tunes.

What’s your favourite Wellington venue to play in?
Valhalla on Vivian Street has been our home base so far, tonnes of cool bands go through there, and Spencer on sound is absolutely the boy.

In your songwriting or composing (or the band’s songwriting) how do the compositions and songs take shape?
We all write songs individually and then refine them as a band. Sometimes we choose a week to write a song, and have a ‘showcase’ on Sunday where we present the tunes and talk smack about each others creations.

Where/when is your next gig?
Meow on Thursday the 1st of March. It is the single release party for Empty Space (Where Were They?!) and we’ll be playing with local legends Nation and Egovalve!
