NZMM: Favourite Wellington Music Moment – Ready Sett

Last year for NZ Music Month 2016, we asked bands/artists for a favourite memory of making music in Wellington.

It could involve a favourite gig, a funny story from the recording studio, a moment that led to the inspiration for a song, the fond recollection of a defunct venue, or the piece of music or lyric that they were most proud of creating.

We really enjoyed the stories people told us, so we are doing it again this year. Up next is Anj from Ready Sett.

Making music for us occurs in an decrepit sleepout which has been converted into a practice space at our house in Mt Cook. Our tunes take shape predominantly in this space and just last week a new song developed that we’ve now added to our set, and will hopefully be recorded later this year as part of a new EP. Currently titled ‘Maybe I Could Be’, the song is about trying to have a summer holiday in average NZ weather! It’s got a surf/rock kind of vibe and is similar in sound to bands like Bully and The Courtney’s. A favourite gig for us would have to be Cuba Dupa that was recently held in Wellington in March. An outdoor stage, a great sound system, and enthusiastic crowds always makes us happy to be playing music here in the capital!
