The Eighth Note: DoubleG

‘The Eighth Note’ is 8 quick Questions with Wellington Musicians.

A chance for us to catch up with people & see what they’re up to, or introduce you to a new musician/band and their music.

Today’s guest is Producer/Rapper DoubleG.

Who are you? Tell us a bit about your music:
I am DoubleG mAkeAbangA (make a hit) in plain English. Born and raised in Cape Town South Africa holding it down for Wellington. I have been recording and mixing my own tracks since 2006 when I arrived on the NZ shores.
Coming to NZ presented myself with a world of opportunities that we simply did not have growing up in South Africa. I was able to purchase my first microphone and used the software that was included as a package. With little to no Knowledge at all I took to Google and YouTube to educate myself on how to use certain software and hardware. I was instantly hooked when I heard myself play back through the speakers.
My entire family plays some form of instrument or has sung in bands choirs ect. And my Father is a DJ. I finally found my gift and this was to become a producer/rapper. I haven’t stopped year after year I spent harnessing my skills and kept on building. I design all my own cover art for my singles and do posters and cover art for artist around wellington one of many skills.
Currently I am the Co-founder of GMG a small company that helps up and coming artist with stage presence, shows , and production. Lunar Ignite is this platform.

What have you been working on lately? Any new tracks or albums on the way?
