Congratulations to everyone who won prizes at the auction! By all accounts it was a success, and we hope you enjoy your rewards. Thanks to everyone who took part - we look forward to reading your reviews next year.

For those of you who were unable to come, we would appreciate it if you could take a moment to give us some feedback about the Subtxt reading programme. The form can be downloaded here. Once completed it can be emailed back to subtxt@wcl.govt.nz or dropped in at the Central Library Children's and Young Adult's enquiries desk.

September 27th
Good news, everyone - the final scores are now on the scoreboard. If you have any queries or objections relating to your final mark please email us at subtxt@wcl.govt.nz by the end of today.

Also remember that the auction is tomorrow evening. Everyone who registered will be eligible for prizes (and can help themselves to pizza).

September 27th
Subtext '06 has finished! We are currently tabulating the final score, which may take some time - we'll have it up as soon as possible.

September 19th
Congratulations to Amethyst, who won last week's spot-prize!

This is the penultimate week of Subtxt '06, and the auction will take place on Friday the 29th. Read about it in the middle column of this very page!

September 8th
Next week, from Monday, all book reviews will be in the draw for a spot-prize. This will end on Sunday the 17th at midnight. Only book reviews will be considered.

Only two more weeks to go - get your points in! A lot of people referred friends but since we've not received reviews from them, we haven't given you the 50 bonus points. It's not too late to get them to review. Think of the points!

Remember all points are eligible to bid in the auction and spot-prizes will be given out. If your points aren't as high as others, don't despair.

September 7th
Keep the reviews coming - we will have more spot-prizes soon. There are only three weeks left to earn points, before the big auction night on Friday the 29th of September. (So keep that evening free!) More details closer to the event.

Another page of notable reviews has gone up here.

A gentle reminder: non-fiction books do not count towards your score, unfortunately.

August 29th
The winner of last week's bonus prize is Mecha! Congratulations!

No bonus prizes this week, alas - instead all reviews received before midnight on Sunday, the 3rd of September, will earn double points. Don't forget that the more points you have the greater the opportunity for you to win!

August 25th
Tomorrow is the final day to register - all registrations must be completed before 4pm. If you've referred a friend, they must write a review before you will get any bonus points - and be in the draw for this week's bonus prize.

Another page of reviews is up - check it out here. These reviews have earned their writers double points!

August 21st
Last week's spot prize winner was hot_chic_with_brain. Congratulations! This week we will give away another spot prize. To be in the draw you need to refer a friend who completes at least one review before registration closes next weekend ...

Registrations close on 4pm on Saturday the 26th of August. After that time we will not be accepting any new participants, so if you wish to earn that extra 50 points for joining someone up, this is the week to do so.

Remember all points can be used at the auction to bid on great prizes so keep sending in those reviews!

August 16th
It's a spot-prize week! Each person who sent in an review this week will be in the draw for a prize on Friday.

There's now a new page of excellent reviews to peruse. Each is worth double points to the reviewer.

August 14th
We're back to normal scoring this week. Watch this space, however, as there are more bonuses planned.

August 7th
Don't forget - all reviews this week receive double points! And all reviews on this page earn their writers an extra 10 points; these are updated (ir)regularly, so visit often.

August 4th
Next week all reviews received between 8am Monday (7th of August) and midnight Friday (11th August) will earn double points! And all reviews featured on this page will earn 10 extra points!

Please remember that all reviews must be from Wellington Library material. Non-fiction is not included - we will stop awarding points for any non-fic reviewed from now. Don't forget to get your friends to register - once they send in a review you will earn yourself 50 points.

July 31st
The launch party was a great success. Thanks to Bettah Recognised Dancers and to Joe, our DJ.

People are joining steadily, and points have been awarded. Remember to join up your friends as you will receive 50 pts as soon as they submit a review.
If you're reviewing material please make sure that you have registered first.
The scoreboard is now active and will be updated daily (we hope).

July 14th
The launch of SubTxt '06 is on Sunday, the 30th of July at the Central Library. It's begins at 1 pm and features great entertainment, music and food - it's your chance to enter this year's teen programme with even better prizes than last year! Bring a friend to further your chances!

See you there!

Because we're getting so many great reviews, we've set up some pages for them. These are only some, and certainly not all, of the quality reviews we've received. And of course they are all rewarded with extra points!

Title: The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole
Author:Sue Townsend
Theme: The diary of Adrian Mole, aged 15, through his difficult teenage years. A humorous tale about the crazy events of a teenager set in the 80s.
Stars: 4
Recommend?: This book, like the first, was very amusing. It is quite a strange story, tons of crazy things happening to one boy, but it good all the same. I would recommend it because it is set quite a while ago, but still has things that teenagers can relate to today. It was also good because I could stop and start whenever, without having to wait for the end of the chapter. It was like a few mini-stories, and kept flicking back and fourth whenever something interesting was happening with a different person, which is good for a diary story, because often they just stick with the same thing for the whole book, which gets a bit dull.
Favourite Character: The character's came and went quite a lot, but I liked Bert because he was just a funny old man with a great personality.
Favourite Scene: I didn't have a particular favorite scene, because there were quite a few that were funny, but I actually liked the bits about Queenie (I'm not giving away the story here!) because it was one of the few serious parts.

Title: Jessica
Author:Bryce Courtney
Theme: A girl in the Australian outback in around the 1920s and her sister's endeavour to get the richest man in town and, in the process, puts her sister in a mental hospital and steals her baby.
Recommend?: It is a thrilling emotive interesting story and it is well written and easy to read.
Favourite Character: Jessica because she is full of determination and never gives up and, despite all her problems, she still helps those around her.
Favourite Scene: When Jessica gives birth, as it shows how strong she is and even though she has been abandoned by her family she doesn't give up.
