Abstract: In this in-depth article the authors examined 150 companies who had strong leadership capabilities. In doing so, they found that all the organizations followed five strategies. Accompanying the article is a one page preview summarising the key ideas and incorporating an overview of the practicalities involved and also suggesting further readings.

Developing leaders

Abstract: The author discusses how to improve leadership development. He explains that leaders should take time to determine what needs to be developed in their management and leadership skills. He also stresses the importance of on-the-job training and adds that leaders should increase the effectiveness of the training and education activity of their members who will also become leaders in the future.
What's the role of senior management?

Abstract: This very interesting NZ article looks at the findings of the "Benchmark Report 2007" produced by organisational behaviour specialists Winsborough. The report looked at senior management teams in New Zealand firms, and how effective they are. 117 executives were interviewed from a range of companies which included both private and public service organisations.
