SubText08 Quizzes: The Answers

Now that SubText08 is all over we can give you the answers to the six quizzes that ran during the programme. The percentage of people who answered each question correctly is noted with each answer. If you want to know how well you did personally, leave a comment and I will (eventually) email you.

The answers are within!

The final SubText08 Quiz …

… is all ready to go. You will find it here. It’s not so difficult as some of the other quizzes; it will be a walk in the park if you search for the answers online.

This is the final week of SubText, and if you’ve not done all the other quizzes it is not too late. Every completed quiz increases your chance to win. (Unless you’re not registered in SubText. Ha ha.)

Edit: The winner of last week’s draw is Rosemary! Congratulations on your sparkling, new $40 book voucher.

Week Five Theme: Non-Fiction

The theme for next week is non-fiction, which includes biography, poetry and plays. Any reviews received that are for a non-fiction book will earn a bonus chance to win!

The quiz is also ready to go – you may find it here. Some of the questions are quite challenging, and you will need to look up some of the answers (try Google, or Wikipedia). Completing the quiz will earn you one chance to win; getting 100% will get you two chances to win.

Good luck!

(This week’s draw will be done on Monday, as those who go to tonight’s event at Newtown will also be in the running to win.)

Week four theme: Classics

Next week’s theme for reviews is classics. This is a broad category, covering literature that has withstood the test of time. (We have a page for the classics here, in fact.) Many of you may have read a classic novel (or play) for school, so you should have something to review!

And here’s the classic-themed quiz! Do it and receive an extra chance to win – get it all right and you get another chance to win.

And it’s not too late to register – do so if you want your quiz to count!
Exclamation mark!

Week three theme: Music/CDS

Next week’s theme for reviews is music and CDs. Send us in a review of a CD and you will get a bonus chance to win a prize or two.

There is also a new quiz! It asks tough questions about music and musicians. It is the Kim Hill of music quizzes. Here it is!

(Don’t forget that you can still do the first two quizzes if you haven’t already.)

Week Two Theme: New Zealand

SubTextThis week’s focus is New Zealand. Make sure you review a book written by a New Zealand author to get a bonus entry into the prize draw. Want some ideas? We’ve got some info on New Zealand authors here.

For another chance to win, do the New Zealand quiz: get 100% right and we’ll give you a bonus point.

Finally, make sure you’re at Karori Library this Friday for an awesome gaming night! See you there…

ps: not registered? Do it now!

SubText08 Quiz #1 – Graphic Novels

The first of the SubText08 quizzes is available here. The theme is Graphic Novels. You have until the 29th of August to complete it, so don’t hurry – some of the questions are quite tough and may require a little research! Please make sure you’ve registered before you submit your answers.

A quiz for you

As part of this year’s SubText programme we will have a weekly online quiz. Completing them correctly will enhance your chance to win stuff. If you answer any questions wrong you won’t be so lucky, but you will be able to try again. To test the quizzing system, we have put together a quiz for you to try out now. It’s difficult, but don’t be discouraged! You’re allowed to use the internet to look things up.
