There are a few new additions this month, although we’re still lumbered with the Twilight books (NB Short Life of Bree Tanner will be free to read online also!)

A tie for first this month, between the extremely popular spy and supernatural romance genres. Actually, the Most Wanted list this month is a sort of spy/supernatural palindrome, with a bit of Glee in the middle and an Australian World War II interloper (Markus Zusak), oh, and Push. It’s almost symmetry, which I am told is more visually interesting.
It’s all about series (apart from the Australian World War II interloper, oh, and Push): Fallen is being followed by Torment in October this year; Hourglass is the latest in the Evernight series, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl will be producing Beautiful Darkness, also in October 2010, Robert Muchamore and Stephenie Meyer are the king and queen of YA series, and, as you will see in the post below, Stephenie Meyer is even producing a novella about Bree soon. Phew.
There are an absurd number of items in this month’s list, as many of them are equally desired. But that is okay! It is good to be wanted.
1. Crocodile Tears, Anthony Horowitz [no change]
2. Fallen, Lauren Kate [up 1]
3. Brigands M. C., Robert Muchamore [down 1]
4. Glee : The Music Volume 2, CD [up 3]
5. Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer [up 1]
6. Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer [back in the list]
6. Glee : The Music Volume 1, CD [down 2]
6. Push, Sapphire [new]
7. Twilight, Stephenie Meyer [down 2]
8. New Moon, Stephenie Meyer [up 2]
9. Beautiful Creatures, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl [new]
9. The Book Thief, Markus Zusak [back in the list]
10. Hush, Hush, Becca Fitzpatrick [new]
10. I Will Always Love You : A Gossip Girl novel, Cecily von Ziegesar [new]
A few new titles this month: we wrote about Hush, Hush here (it’s Twilight-y); Beautiful Creatures has a replete Amazon entry (it was their top YA book for 2009) (and may also be Twilight-y? Someone tell me); I Will Always Love You came in late last year; and Push is the book the film Precious (which is R16 I’m afraid!) is based on.
The Glee thing is bigger than Twilight (maybe)! Cool. Now that’s what we call music.
In the nearly but not quite the most wanted category we also have the following: Lord Sunday by Garth Nix (the final installment); Fame Monster by Lady Gaga; Aliens in the Attic (DVD); Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (the one that Amazon said was the best book of last year); and Push by Sapphire (that the movie Precious is based on).
If you’re wondering about Fallen, the back cover says that it is “dangerously exciting and darkly romantic” and that it is “a page turning thriller and the ultimate love story.” Plus it’s the beginning of a series. We don’t have it yet, but you can reserve it.
So, at the beginning of this year these things are most wanted:
This month we bid a fond farewell to The Book Thief, which was on this list for, like, forever. Tschüβ!
Brigands M.C. queue update as of 12pm today: 87
Useless information: ratio of vampires to un-undead – 7:7. Making an appearance this month are some other popular vampire series, House of Night and Vampire Academy. If you’ve read the Twilight books 14 times each then here are some more ideas which you may or may not have thought of yourselves. There are over 100 people waiting for Brigands M.C. so please be patient!
