I recently watched this DVD and it’s excellent; a sneak-peek into the preparations behind the New York Met’s exhibition China: Behind the looking Glass and, of course, the deliciously ritzy Met Gala, spear-headed by Anna Wintour. I probably wouldn’t bother wearing these shoes to watch the film but I’d definitely consider wearing them to the Met Gala. I recommend reserving this one now – it’s the perfectly glamorous watch for this coming long weekend.
The first Monday in May / a Fabiola Beracasa Beckman production ; a Andrew Rossi film.
Each year, on the first Monday in May, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York opens its doors to host the biggest event on the fashion calendar, The Met Gala, the opening night party to the Costume Institutes annual fashion exhibition. THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY follows Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour and Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton, as they orchestrate the years most lavish party and The Mets most attended fashion exhibition in history, China: Through The Looking Glass. With unprecedented access, filmmaker Andrew Rossi offers an exclusive all-access pass to the creation of the exhibition that explores China’s substantial influence on Western fashion. Featuring legendary film and fashion creatives including Wong Kar Wai, Baz Luhrmann, Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier and Andr Leon Talley, and intimate access to contemporary pop icons like Rihanna, THE FIRST MONDAY IN MAY explores whether fashion should be viewed as art and captures the creativity, passion, and inspiration behind the exhibition and gala.
