A massive stack of new graphic novels has arrived. There are (like the new books) too many to list, but here are some of the outstandings ones.
- Ultimate Galactus : Ultimate Extinction – This is very, very good. It’s written by Warren Ellis and drawn by Brandon Peterson, so you know it’s worth reading. It is the third book in the series; following on from Ultimate Galactus : Ultimate Secrets and the first book, which we unfortunately don’t hold. Ellis’ first Thunderbolts comic, Thunderbolts : Faith in Monsters is in, and it comes recommended.
- Age of Reptiles : Tribal Warfare – There is no dialogue at all in this comic. This is because it is about dinosaurs. A tribe of tyrannusaur rexes take revenge on a band of egg-snatching deinonychuses, and a brutal epic tale unfolds. The art is great, and the ending has a twist.
- Invincible : My Favourite Martian (Volume 8 ) – The saga continues!
- Astonishing X-Men : Torn (Volume 3) – Of all the X-Men this, the one by Joss Whedon (who wrote Buffy), is the best. Do agree!
- B. P. R. D. : Garden Of Souls – The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (the group Hellboy works for) have more adventures with ghosts, ghouls and golems. Creepy!
There are about fifty other new comics. Most are new installments of established series, from J.S.A., Batman and Spiderman to The Hardy Boys, Duck Tales and Avalon High. Check them out!
