Top 10: Fight Scenes

A well-choreographed fight can often make an action film worth watching. It might be the awesome special effects that make it so great, or that the outcome of the battle determines the fate of humanity … or else it just looks cool. Or (usually) it is all those things. Here, then, are some exceptional fight scenes from DVDs held in the Young Adult area:

  1. Yoda vs. Count Dooku in Star Wars: Episode II, Attack of the Clones. It took two decades before we saw Yoda use his lightsabre, and the wait was worth it.
  2. The Battle of Helms Deep in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Epic!
  3. Trinity vs. some agents in the beginning of The Matrix. Kind of old now, but it still looks good.
  4. Magneto’s escape from prison in X2.
  5. Order of the Phoenix vs. Death Eaters under the Department of Mysteries in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Duelling with wands sounds silly, but here it looks potentially deadly.
  6. Cloud vs. Sephiroth in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Incredibly epic.
  7. The battle of wits between Patrick Verona and Kat Stratford in 10 Things I Hate About You. Poor Heath Ledger! Such a tragedy etc.
  8. ?
  9. ?
  10. ?

That’s right – there are only seven! If you can recommend any that I have overlooked, leave a comment and I will tack them to this list. Thanks!
