US author John Green’s first novel, Looking for Alaska, has won the inaugural Silver Inky award. Simmone Howell’s Notes from the Teenage Underground has won the Golden Inky Award. Australia’s first teenage choice book awards, the Inkys are designed to recognise the books that teenagers want to read and voting is open to anyone under the age of 25. The shortlist was chosen by a panel of six judges, including four teenagers from Victoria, NSW and Queensland, and the Golden Inky is awarded to the Best Australian young adult book and the Silver Inky to the best International.
