Kids’ Club Review by Dominic: The remarkable journey of Coyote Sunrise

The remarkable journey of Coyote SunriseThe remarkable journey of Coyote Sunrise, Dan Gemeinhart

The remarkable journey of Coyote Sunrise is a incredible story about a girl who had been named Coyote since the death of her two sisters and Mum. After the incident, Coyote and her Dad Rodeo set off in a never ending trip on their new home Yager (an old school bus). Rodeo has a list of ‘no goes’ and one of them is going back to their old home but after Coyote’s weekly chat on the phone with her Grandma, her Dad’s Mum tells her the local park is being taken down to become buildings. Coyote remembers that 5 days before the deaths, her sisters and Mum buried a box that they would come back and and dig up ten years later. But luckily Rodeo and his daughter had invented an acronym; Drop Everything And Drive (DEAD) meaning they had a craving they really wanted to come true even if it was on the other side of the US. Coyote lied saying she needed a pork sandwich made around her birthplace. Needing the box, Coyote decides to do the impossible: travelling 3000 miles in a week without Rodeo noticing her plan. Picking up strangers to help her case along the way, she attempts her feat.

This is a very heartfelt and emotional story, but I loved every second of it and never wanted it to end.

5 stars
