How Underwear Got Under There

We would never get caught with our pants down even if we are wearing our best underwear, but have you ever wondered how it got there? I came upon this cool and information-packed book entitled How Underwear Got Under There by Kathy Shaskan and was really amazed at the history of underwear. Our underpants are the descendants of a  funny little garment called the loincloth. Much like the ones you’ve seen Tarzan wearing! I found out that before the mid 1800s underwear did not come in sizes because it was handsewn and fitted for a particular person. There are a lot more cool facts in the book so go and check it out at children’s non fiction area the call number is J 391.42 SHA. Happy reading!

rocketsAre you into sci fi stories? There’s a cool book that has three stories in it. It is referred to as trilogy novels and it has exciting stories inside. It even has a glossary after every story so you can check out the meaning of some of the words. The one I picked was called Tri Sci Fi by Pauline Cartwright and Janice Marriott. It has three stories entitled “Defending the Empire”, “Farewell to Xylo” and “A Change of Course”. You’d think it would be a very thick book because it has three stories in it but it isn’t. I bet you’ll get through reading it in an instant. So go and check out this 3 in 1 book at the children’s fiction area now.

What would you say if your parents told you that they had signed up for a reality TV show called Kid Swap. It would mean that you had to move in with another family and live the life they lived, eat the same food they did and on top of all that you would be filmed the whole time. Would you fancy that? Well Jiggy certainly didn’t and was horrified to hear of his parents plan. Check out this book and see how Jiggy copes with this and TV fame.

Glister : the haunted teapot

Glister:the haunted teapot by Andi Watson is about Glister.
Glister lives with her father in an old old draughty house. One day a parcel arrives for her with a new teapot in it. This is great because their old teapot is very cracked but as soon as Glister makes a pot of tea, she discovers that it is haunted. And not by some ordinary ghost but by an ancient author who insists on Glister helping him with his last book – a very sad tale. This becomes too much for poor Glister and she changes parts of the plot and finally tries to get rid of the teapot but nothing works. A fun Junior Comic with a twist at the end. I give it 4 out of 5 stars
