I have always wanted to learn the guitar and the other day I found this great book called Guitar for Beginners. It has everything you need to learn the guitar from scratch. There are clear instructions and pictures that show you exactly what to do. What’s the best way to hold the guitar, how to pluck and strum the strings and there is even some great tunes to learn. So why not have a go? With a little practice you will be amazed at what you can achieve!
The theme is ‘Love your library’. So head on down to your local library and have a chat to your librarian and let them help you find something great to read.
Every year during Library Week libraries all over the country read the same story at the same time. It’s called NZ’s Biggest Storytime. The
book this year is Itiiti’s Gift by Melanie Drewery, illustrated by local artist/author Fifi Colston. If you live in Karori, Khandallah or Tawa then come along to hear the story during storytime on Wednesday 12 August, 10.30am. Or check the book out at a library branch near you. It’s available in Te Reo Maori too: Ko te koha a Itiiti.

I have just been back to my country, the Philippines, for a visit and was blown away by this huge mall. It has more than 1000 shops, including 400 dining establishments and parking for more than 10,000 cars! It even has a Sky Garden complete with water falls. SM City North Edsa is the largest mall in the Philippines and the second largest in the world. I had sore feet going through the shops and had to go back the next day for more! If you’d like to know more about shopping check out the dewey number J 381’s in the children non fiction area of the library. Happy reading!
