I came across a book by Shel Silverstein which was completed just before he died in 1999. Its title is Runny Babbit and it’s a poetry book that interchanges the first letters of certain words. It’s really a good read because you sort of try to figure out what the interchanged words are as you read along. Confused enough? Well here’s a sample of a boem from the pook, ooops! I meant poem from the book!
RUNNY’S HEADING RABITS
Runny lent to the wibrary
And there were bundreds of hooks-
Bistory hooks, beography gooks,
And lots of bory stooks.
He looked them over one by one
And guess which one he took-
A bience sook? A boetry pook?
Oh, no — a bomic cook!
I had a lot of fun reading this topsy-turvy book… maybe you will too. It’s in the children’s fiction area of the library. Yee sah!
