We have Zinio eMagazines

zinio-ipad-photogOur newest eLibrary addition, Zinio, is a great new collection including over 170 current magazine titles. Members of Wellington City Libraries can borrow as many as they like for free, and keep them as long as they want – with no overdue fees.   There’s a wide range of magazines – including photography, business, sports, news, crafts, lifestyle, computers, music, and more.  Titles include the Economist, New  Scientist, OK Magazine, Australian Vogue, Taste, Empire, and New Yorker among many others – here’s the full list of titles.

Best of all with overseas magazines titles, there’s no waiting for these digital copies: many of the magazines are available at the same time or sooner than their print editions appear in UK or US, with the same layout on the screen as they have in print, complete with photographs, graphics and even interactive content in some, like National Geographic.  If you missed a previous issue, these are available for most titles as well.

Zinio is easy to use – you can view magazines via streaming on desktop/laptops or download them to tablets or smartphones for offline reading using the free Zinio for Libraries app. Added features in both versions allow magazine content to be printed, shared or emailed – and you can easily bookmark a magazine to save where you’re up to.

To use the Wellington City Libraries’ Zinio collection, visit wcl.govt.nz/zinio. Have your library card number ready – here’s a Slideshare presentation to show you how to set up Zinio :

Here’s another presentation for setting up the Zinio for Libraries app so that you can read magazines on your tablet or smartphone:
