From Wednesday 6th November onwards, access to your library card account (or our library online resources that need a login) will be by your library card number and a 4 digit PIN.
The default PIN loaded on to your library account will be the last 4 numbers of the telephone number you have advised to us. We encourage you to edit the PIN to be any 4 digits you choose. (Note: they need to be numbers, not characters).
Customers who have not shared a telephone number with us will have a default PIN as 9999 but please change this to your choice of 4 numbers as soon as possible.
Your new PIN number will be needed anywhere that you currently enter your last name as a library password – including reserving, renewing, checking your account for due dates, logging in to eLibrary resources and making payments.
This change will occur from Wednesday 6th November 2019. From that day, you will NOT be able to use last name as your password to access these library services.
Why are we making this change? In a modern library environment with increasing digital access, a PIN number mirrors the login access provided by many other organisations, and provides an additional layer of security e.g. in case of a lost library card.
