Prepare for IELTS and TOEFL at the Library

Are you taking the IELTS or TOEFL test soon?

Be as prepared as possible for your test by practicing at Wellington City Libraries. The best way to prepare is to practice, practice, practice! The Library has lots of books, CDs, and software to help you with your English study. The Library also has tests from previous years and useful vocabulary lists to boost your study.

You can find more information about studying English here, or check out our Languages page to find information about the Libraries in your native language.

Test yourself and create a study plan

The best way to begin your IELTS/TOEFL study is to complete a practice test and mark it. This will help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and create a study plan. The Wellington City Libraries have many copies of official Cambridge IELTS tests from previous years, as well as the Official Guide to the TOEFL.

Work on your skills

Once you’ve identified your current level and a few things you need to work on, create a study plan. Write down which skills you are going to work on and how. Then look for study guides that will help you improve your skills. Here’s a few books that might help:

Practice Online

IELTS study books are very popular, so the one you want might not always be available. Don’t worry, you can still study! If you are a Wellington Libraries member, you can access Road to IELTS software online. There are training modules for both the general and the academic test, and it’s all free for you to use.

If you need any help finding IELTS and TOEFL material at the Library, please ask the friendly staff for help.

Good Luck!
