New Vinyl to Check Out!

Our recent vinyl additions include the much-anticipated new albums by two of our favourite artists; Rhian Sheehan and Connan Mockasin, as well as the ‘Queen of Soul’, Aretha Franklin’s hit songs collection from her Atlantic years. Check them out!

Rhian Sheehan – A quiet divide
“Five years & 20 million streams later Rhian Sheehan returns with his new album – A Quiet Divide. A Quiet Divide cements Sheehan as the preeminent voice in the global post-rock/ambient genre. A Quiet Divide merges cinematic scores with the post-rock sound listeners crave.” (adapted from amazon.co.uk)

Connan Mockasin – Jassbusters
“Nothing is ever straightforward with Connan Mockasin, and nothing should ever be straightforward with Connan Mockasin. An unclassifiable, unconventional album Jassbusters foreshadows a five-part melodrama titled Bostyn ’n Dobsyn, directed by and starring Mockasin. Whether bending genres for shits n’ giggles or collaborating with artists like James Blake (who might just appear on a Jassbusters track), MGMT, John Cale, and Charlotte Gainsbourg, Connan Mockasin has always maneuvered in mysterious ways.” (adapted from realgroovy.co.nz)

Dave Grohl – Play
“2018 release containing a 21-minute instrumental song, ‘Play’, featuring Dave Grohl playing all instruments. David Grohl was the longest-serving drummer for the grunge band Nirvana and is the founder, frontman, lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Foo Fighters.” (adapted from realgroovy.co.nz)

Aretha Franklin – The Atlantic singles collection 1967-1970
The Atlantic Singles Collection 1967-1970 features 25 tracks which Franklin released during her first three years with Atlantic Records. Includes classics like “Respect”, “A Natural Woman (You Make Me Feel Like)” and “Chain Of Fools”. Within the space of just three years, her name was almost never out of U.S Pop and R&B Top 20, garnering nine gold singles, three gold albums.” (adapted from realgroovy.co.nz)

Teenage Fanclub – Bandwagonesque
“The album has been remastered from the original tapes at Abbey Road Studios, London under the guidance of the band, and is packaged in a faithful re-production of the original vinyl artwork. Bandwagonesque is one of Teenage Fanclub’s defining albums. Hugely influential (Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard released his cover of the entire album in 2017) and with an unforgettable sleeve, the album continues to be a firm favorite of fans, critics and artists alike.” (adapted from amazon.co.uk)
