Surviving the BIG SHAKE – Free lunchtime seminars in August
Wellington City Libraries in partnership with Wellington City Council and Capacity Infrastructure Services will host a series of seminars focussing on Council’s policies concerning earthquake disasters.
The topics will be presented by speakers, who aim to inform Wellingtonians and raise their awareness about potential major disasters that can affect their city. They will discuss Council’s provisions and their strategies for surviving a BIG SHAKE.
The seminars are during August and will include the following:
Thursday, 18 August, What’s likely to happen to water services in Wellington if there is a large earthquake? With David Hill, Chief Executive of Capacity Infrastructure Services
Thursday, 25 August, What is an earthquake-prone building and how does the Earthquake-prone Buildings Policy affect heritage buildings? With Viv Rickard, Principal Heritage Advisor and Steve Cody, Manager Compliance (Building). Wellington City Council
Wednesday, 31 August, How prepared are you for an emergency? With Fred Mecoy, Emergency Preparedness Manager, Wellington City Council
