Ahemed and Yakab. Yakab likes Newtown and says: “‘my God has sent me here and so I will stay.” Both of Wellington Halal Meat Ltd.
Emiel (Fijian) likes Newtown because it is so multi-racial and nothing is ever the same. He likes all the diffeent ethnicities and all the different foods on offer. Emiel is from Estilo Design.
Brendan and Ryan (both Kiwi) like Newtown because of the interesting people and good times. Both of Auto Electrical Solutions.
Julien and Steven (both French), love Newtown’s cool atmosphere. Both of Simply Paris.
Jaymi, Jasper and Andrew like Newtown’s cultural diversity. All of Prahna Cafe.
Badal (Indian) loves the people in Newtown. He is from Curry Heaven.
Giles and Gabe think Newtown is a good community. Both of Baobas cafe.
Henry and Dan love everything about Newtown especially the mix of people and the way people seem to have a good grip on reality. Both of Peoples Coffee.
John T, Cons L, Lamo A and Peter G (all Samoan) like the girls in Newtown, think the people are kind here and that Newtown is the best town ever.
Anna likes Newtown’s great mix of people. She thinks it would be hard to find a suburb elsewhere in NZ where there is such a diverse range of people and every corner of the world is represented by either new migrants or the descendants of those that settled here decades ago. Plus young creative artists, talented energetic musicians, earth conscious greenies and the miscellaneous, odd and quirky!
Becky has lived in Newtown for the past five years and loves lots of things about Newtown: the cultural diversity, great food and coffee, that Newtown has everything she needs and that Newtown is full of people who care about Newtown!
Anna and Becky both work at the Newtown Community and Cultural centre.
And don’t forget, the photo exhibition of People in Our Neighbourhood is still at Newtown library. Have a look!
