Let the celebrations begin!

This morning appoximately 100 people attended Kia Ora Neighbour at Newtown.  Children from St Annes, Berhampore school and Te Kaahui te Kohanga Reo got their hands dirty and made awesome Earth People.

Sarah, Kaka and Joy, students  from a local ESOL class, shared their stories, we sang and even danced together and finished with a yummy morning tea. Our special guests were Joris de Bres, Race Relations Commisioner and Desigin Thulkanam from the Human Rights Commision. Another very special guest was Amanda Golding, who used to work at Newtown library and started the Earth People project 5 years ago. ! It did not take long for the adults to get their hands dirty as well, there are some amazing creatures on display! check out the photo’s!
Don’t forget to visit Newtown library and have a look at the fantastic photo display of “People in Our Neighbourhood”.  Violetta and Lucy (both working at Newtown library)  interviewed shopkeepers and other local “celebrities”. Thank you all for being such a good sports.
