The collection development team is always busy purchasing the latest books for WCL’s customers and each month a fair number stand out. Frommer’s 500 places to see before they disappear : a celebration of the world’s fragile wonders raises awareness about some cultural, historic and natural places threaten to disappear and what visitors can do to help prevent this. Bibliodyssey : archival images from the internet reviews the efforts of institutions to digitise materials and make them accessible online least they are forgotten. 1000 languages : the worldwide history of living and lost tongues gives an overview of the world’s languages and their development and growth. The work of Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri is featured in It’s beautiful, here isn’t it . The lives and works of two British writers, and father and son, are covered in the biography Amis & son : two literary generations, and, finally, 101 weekends in Europe provides an overview of the most interesting cities in Europe.
