Welcome to Khandallah Library

Discover our wide variety of resources. As well as books, we have collections of magazines, CDs, DVDs, Large Print books, and audio books. You can borrow most fiction and non-fiction items for free. Other items have a small charge to cover the increasing costs of providing services.

Khandallah News

If you use Johnsonville or Tawa libraries, you will see some familiar faces behind the counter at Khandallah, as experienced staff from both Johnsonville and Tawa have joined the Khandallah team.

Storytime

Khandallah pre-school storytime is on Tuesday morning at 10:30am in the children's area. Pre-school storytimes are fun and free - there's no charge, and you don't have to book.

Storytime is aimed at pre-school age children (three and four years old) - but younger siblings are always welcome! Join us for half an hour of fun.

Teens Area Sign

A fantastic new sign went up in our Teens area in October. The sign was designed by one of our very talented teenage library patrons - Kirsteen.

Kirsteen's design brief was to create a sign that mimicked a stain glass window effect to take advantage of the natural lighting behind the glass wall blocks. We are thrilled with the design Kirsteen gave us, and impressed with her skill in working with such a difficult material as cellophane.

Holiday activities

Hideous and Hilarious History!

A group of enthusiastic children and adults joined in the fun of the Hideous and Hilarious History holiday programme.

We were very fortunate to be joined by Pauline Steele who shared her experiences of growing up in Ganges Road in the 1930s and 1940s. Pauline's father built the house which was on the site where the library now stands.

Pauline shared her photos of Khandallah in the past.
